(tune: 10.9.10.9.D. #398 O to be Like Thee)

1 1 Hear the right, O Lord. To my song attend.
Give ear to my unfeigned entreaty. (1.1)
2  Let my judgment come forth from Your presence.
Things that are upright, let Your eyes see.

3 You have proved my heart, You have visited
in the night; You have examined me.
You're finding nothing. That which I have thought,
out from my mouth, it shall not proceed.

2 4 As for men's works, by the word of Your lips,
I'm kept from the paths of the violent.
5 Uphold my goings that my feet don't slip
from Your pathways that You Yourself went.

6  I have called on You, for You answer me.
Incline Your ear (6.1), God. Hear what I say.
7 Show wondrously Your right hand of mercy.
Save those who trust from those who self-raise. (7.1)

3  8  Keep me as the apple, as the daughter,
of the most tender part of the eye.
Hide me under the shadow of Your wings
9       from wicked who oppress such as I.

My soul's enemies, who encompass me,
10        they are enclosed in their own rich fat.
With their great mouths, they speak arrogantly.
11       They have now compassed us in our tracks.

4  They have set their eyes to cast us to earth,
12      like a lion greedy of his prey,
like a young lion, lurking in secret.
13      Arise, O Lord, put him in dismay.

Do overthrow them; deliver my soul,
from the lawless ones, who are Your sword,
14  from men who're Your hand, O Lord, from men who
are of this world, who have their reward.

5  You fill their belly with Your hid treasure,
they are satisfied with many sons.
Their children have all that they desire,
and they leave for them their abundance.

15  As for me, I am beholding Your face,
not shamed nor fearful in righteousness.
I will be satisfied when I awake,
beholding You, having Your likeness.

1.1 - lit. Give ear to my prayer that goes not out of feigned lips
6.1 - lit. God, Incline your ear to me. Hear what I say.
7.1. v7 - lit. Show wondrously Your mercy by Your right hand, You who save those who trust from those who rise up.
